Lok Gathbandhan Party criticises NDA govt for brushing aside grave economic crisis

New Delhi September 6: The Lok Gathbandhan Party (LGP) today expressed surprise and dismay over the comment of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely that there is no need of “panic and knee-jerk” reaction over continuous decline in the value of Rupee and rising petrol/diesel prices in the country. Th LGP said the NDA government appeared to be in stupor and is least interested in solving the crisis haunting the nation and believed in pushing the serious issues under the rug by such comments.

The spokesman of the LGP said here on Thursday that the rising prices of petrol/diesel and fall in value of rupee are certainly grave issues directly affecting the masses and the NDA government cannot brush aside them by its lethargic attitude. The spokesman said by not taking any corrective measure and just blaming “global situation”, the NDA government has amply demonstrated its directionless approach in such a serious economic condition. The spokesman said the NDA government’s claim that the fall is temporary phenomenon is misleading as the economy is not performing properly for the last four years. The spokesman said that repeated intervention of the RBI has also failed to help solve the problem which has now assumed serious dimension. The spokesman said the present situation is the result of cumulative impact of economic and financial mismanagement during the last four years. The spokesman said more than global phenomenon, it is domestic mismanagement which has led to this situation as on employment and agriculture and industrial fronts acute crisis has been going on. The spokesman said instead of simply blaming global factor to find an easy escape route the NDA government is required to find ways to improve the grim outlook. The spokesman said government’s assertion that adverse impact of demonetization and lackadaisical approach in the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) has worn off is not based on ground realities, as the people are still facing problems. The spokesman said with prevailing poor condition the NDA government’s claim of the country “fast emerging global economy” is misleading political slogan. The LGP has thus demanded that a more coherent approach with honest and transparent emphasis on agriculture, education employment-both skilled and non-skilled- is urgently required to push growth.
