Lok Gathbandhan Party for probe into Gujarat Coop banks demonetization scam

Urban Mirror Correspondent

New Delhi, June 23: The Lok Gathbandhan Party (LGP) today demanded impartial inquiry into huge deposits of scrapped currency into several cooperative banks in Gujarat immediately after demonetization on November 8, 2016. The LGP said the issue is serious since the name of BJP president Amit Shah has cropped up in the matter, as he was associated with Ahmedabad cooperative bank which had received Rs 745 crore within five days of demonetization.

The spokesman said here on Saturday that the LGP had maintained right from the beginning that the whole exercise of demonetization was aimed at turning huge black money of  some people into white. The spokesman said while common man suffered a lot because of demonetization and its adverse impact is still going on, it helped those who had stashed ill-gotten money through corrupt means.  It may be recalled that cooperative banks were allowed to receive scrapped money for a week thereafter ban was imposed after large-scale complaints were received. The spokesman said scam in several Gujarat cooperative banks under the control of the BJP leaders took place within that period. Pointing out that the information about huge deposits in these banks has come to public domain through an RTI, the spokesman said Ahmedabad District Cooperative bank (ADCB) netted the highest deposits of Rs 745.59 crore demonetized noted within five days of the announcement.  The spokesman said similar reports have also come from other cooperative banks in Gujarat headed by top BJP leaders. The spokesman said despite clarification by the NABARD giving clean chit to Amit Shah and others and finding nothing unusual the huge deposits, the needle of suspicion is revolving around the top BJP leaders and urgently required highly inquiry.

The spokesman said that there was deep conspiracy behind demonetization of high value currency notes and the conspiracy should be unearthed so that those responsible for this immature and reckless decision could be punished. The spokesman that the BJP leadership knew well that the decision was not at all in the interest of the nation and was aimed at helping some high and mighty. The spokesman said in the absence of fool proof preparations and adequate safeguards in place, demonetization has badly affected the whole economy and its adverse fallout is still being experienced by the country. The spokesman said demonetization decision, instead of hitting at black money and terror funding as claimed by the NDA government, has proved extremely disastrous for the nation. The spokesman said NDA leadership and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) both are equally responsible for pushing the country to the brink of disaster and total monetary chaos. The LGP said unearthing fake currency through demonetization has simply turned out to be a big farce.
