Lucknow, September 22: The Log Party said today that the UP BJP government despite making tall claims about improvement in power supply to the rural areas has not been able to ensure promised supply to the villages. The Log Party said reports indicated from rural areas that acute shortage has badly affected agriculture activities.
The spokesman said here on Tuesday that the government is only making claims on social media about electricity supply in villages whereas the ground realities are just the opposite. The spokesman said erratic and irregular supply has been creating lots of problems to the farmers. The UP villages with extremely poor infrastructure are not getting supply for more than eight to ten hours, the spokesman said. The spokesman said that UP government has also claimed about full electrification in rural areas but even basic infrastructure of spreading wire is still incomplete. The spokesman said the government’s assertion about power supply is misleading. The spokesman said short supply is a major problem which the state government has not been able to overcome and it has also badly affected farming activities. The spokesman said the government has been facing massive transmission losses, which is actually large-scale theft in connivance with electricity employees and officers. The spokesman said in UP the “transmission loss” is about 50% along with piling up of massive pending payments. The spokesman said despite availability of electricity at the rate of Rs 1.31 per unit in open market the UP government has been buying it at Rs 7.93 per unit from private companies thereby putting massive burden on consumers.
The spokesman said by making misleading claims the problem is not going to be solved and the central and state governments would have to make sincere efforts to improve the supply situation. The spokesman said vast swath of rural areas in the state are facing massive health, electricity, education and other infrastructural problems with the government just rolling out its success data on paper.
