New Delhi: On June 19, 2014 a few miles outside Noma, Alaska, a biologist Wally Johnson trapped a male Pacific Golden Plover sitting on a nest. After weighing and measuring the bird, Johnson attached a small satellite transmitter to its neck and let it go. The transmitter identification number ended in 97 so Johnson called the Plover No 97.
Now watch the map shown here which indicates all the journey of the bird from early September 2014 to May 31, 2015. The bird flew 27000 km from Noma to various places in the region and back to its nest.
