New Delhi, August 28: The Lok Gathbandhan Party (LGP) today criticised the NDA government for completely failing to create employment as promised during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The LGP said after a lapse of four years the job market situation has failed to improve and the BJP has now stopped talking about it.
The spokesperson of the party said here on Tuesday that the crisis could be well assessed from the current advertisement for recruitment in Indian Railways where 24 million youth have applied for 90,000 jobs. The spokesperson said the desperation for employment has assumed serious dimensions with several outfits resorting to agitations. Pointing out that NDA’s slogan during 2014 Parliamentary election assuring jobs to youth has now disappeared from its political narrative altogether, the spokesperson said the unemployed youth in the country are feeling cheated. With large number of job seekers competing for limited jobs, the spokesperson said number of respondents preferring government jobs has increased from 62% to 65%, which indicates the country’s jobs crisis. It also indicates that perhaps the country is not able to provide enough quality education to its youth because of which corporate sector is unable to absorb most of it in its fraternity. Poorly equipped with quality education and employability, the youth asset of the country is turning into a bane instead of a boon for the country.     Â
The spokesperson said with private sector investment not showing marked improvement, the employment crisis has further accentuated forcing the youth to resort to agitation and press for more reservations. The spokesperson said country has continuously been adding millions of youngsters to its job market every year which is the gravest fault line with almost all political parties least interested in debating the matter. The spokesperson said employment is most pressing present economic problem of the country but the NDA government has not made any serious efforts in this direction as during the last four years its surreptitious agenda has been to divert the attention from it. The spokesperson said jobs crisis requires to be looked into with larger economic perspective and with honesty, transparency and good governance but there has been lackluster and directionless approach during the past four years as the government has not at all been serious in tackling this ticking bomb.
The spokesperson said the NDA government had in fact been a big failure on major issues which have long been confronting the nation. The BJP had promised job creation, control on inflation, end to corruption, bringing back black money, stimulating the hitherto sluggish economy, improving security set up on borders but there is no visible change in the situation so far. On job creation, the reports from various sectors indicate that NDA government has received the worst rating in this segment as there is widespread disappointment among the jobless youth. There is feeling that joblessness remains as it was, as the scenario of unemployment has not reduced despite Make in India slogan and push on skill development initiatives initiated by the Central government.Â
