New Delhi, October 20: The Lok Gathbandhan Party (LGP) said today that the NDA government has been making misleading claims over the constructions of houses for poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Grameen. The LGP said that data indicated that the implementation of the scheme is extremely poor and the assertion made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Shridi rally is not at all substantiated by the fact.
Quoting media report the spokesman said here on Saturday that a mere 4.05 percent of the over 20 lakh houses sanctioned under the scheme in nine states in 2018 have been completed till July. The spokesman said data of ministry of rural development indicated that Only 82,143 of the total 20,23,884 houses were completed in Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The spokesman further said Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh were the worst performers. Despite a modest 10-house target, Haryana failed to construct even a single one, the spokesman said and added Uttar Pradesh also drew a blank when it came to the construction of 89,426 houses. Only 0.05 per cent (146) of the sanctioned 2,53,549 houses was completed in Chhattisgarh, the spokesman commented. The spokesman said with parliamentary election fasting approaching the NDA government has started making tall claims about its schemes without their completion. The spokesman said especially PMAY has been working in a very lackadaisical manner.
The spokesman said in Uttar Pradesh with massive corruption in the scheme in rural areas complaints are galore about the tardy progress during the last one-and-half-year. The spokesman said corrupt nexus of village pradhans and officers is working in rural areas in this connection in Uttar Pradesh. The spokesman said with next month elections in Rajasthan, Chattisgarh and Rajasthan, the NDA government has been showing false statistics to mislead the electorates. The spokesman said like UPA governemnt’s Indira Awas Yojana, this scheme is also headed for massive corruption and failure to reach out to the targeted people.
