New Delhi: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar met Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi. Before the meeting, he said that all political parties seeking to stake claim in Maharashtra “have to choose their path and we will do our politics.” After the meeting, he said: “There was no talk of government formation. This meeting was all about discussing matters of Congress and NCP.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s praise of Sharad Pawar’s NCP in parliament, at a time when the party is making efforts to form a non-BJP coalition government in Maharashtra, drew some interest. Union minister and Republican Party of India (RPI) chief Ramdas Athawale said on Monday that he has spoken to Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut about a compromise with the BJP. “I suggested him a formula of 3 years (CM from BJP) and 2 years (CM from Shiv Sena),” he said, adding that the Sena leader told him that he will discuss it with his party if the BJP agrees to the formula.
